It’s natural to want to rush and reach our goals as soon as we can. But this can lead to a decrease in motivation and even injury.
If you go 100 mph, every day, every month, then you are going to get severely burned out. This can lead to you not even wanting to step foot in a gym or around anything that remotely resembles exercises for weeks, maybe even months. And let’s not forget the golden rule of exercise: its easy to gain weight, it’s hard to get it off. Take one day a week and completely rest. Don’t even think about exercise. Take one week every two month and do very light activity. Its better than taking a month off and losing everything you have worked so hard for.
Your body needs rest after a hard workout for physical reasons too. Why you may ask? Well, rest is the time when the muscle rebuilds and energy is restored. Your fitness plans/programs should be planned with rest days. People who train every day, and train moderate to hard, will find themselves injured and being forced to take months off. Your body will get its rest one way or another. So do it a favor and just give it a day.
