Stretching is quintessential for both pre and post workouts. Many people will tell you that stretching is not important at all, but we are going to tell you otherwise.
What are Static Stretches?
One should hold a static stretch (in which you are still) for anywhere between 5-12 seconds. This 5-12 second mark embodies most of the ideas of the various research done about stretching. This allows for a simple stretch that allows the muscle to respond, but not become overwhelmed and begin to fire the muscle spindles and fight the stretch.
What are Dynamic Stretches?
A dynamic stretch (in which you are moving) can be done anywhere between 5-12 times (see a pattern here?) and does not need to be held in a certain position for a certain period of time.
